The predecessor of China Resources was the "Lianhe Bank" established in Hong Kong in 1938. In 1948, the Lianhe Bank was reorganized and renamed China Resources Company. In 1952, its affiliation was changed from the General Office of the CPC Central Committee to the Central Trade Ministry (now the Ministry of Commerce). In 1983, it was reorganized and established as China Resources (Group) Co., Ltd. In December 1999, it was separated from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and was listed as a central management. In 2003, it was directly supervised by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and was listed as a key state-owned enterprise.
