Since its establishment in 1956, Liuzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College has experienced the establishment, upgrading, cancellation, reopening and merger of Liuzhou Railway Transportation School, Guangxi Railway College, Liuzhou Railway Institute, Liuzhou Railway Bureau Secondary Technical School, Liuzhou Railway Transportation School (Liuzhou Railway Driver School, Liuzhou Railway Bureau Secondary Adult School, Liuzhou Railway Bureau Teacher Training School, Guangxi Radio and Television University Liuzhou Railway Bureau Branch); On August 8, 2003, Liuzhou Transportation Vocational and Technical College was established on the basis of Liuzhou Railway Transportation School; In March 2009, it was renamed Liuzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College. The school is a model higher vocational college in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and a construction project unit of Guangxi characteristic colleges and universities.
There are two campuses, Heping Road Campus and Guantang New Campus. Guantang New Campus is located in Liuzhou Vocational Education Park, Guantang Avenue, Liudong New District. The Heping Road Campus covers an area of 220,000 square meters and a construction area of more than 120,000 square meters. The new Guantang campus covers an area of more than 660,000 square meters, with a planned campus building area of 280,000 square meters, of which more than 200,000 square meters have been completed. The new campus began to partially move in 2009, and currently has more than 8,000 teachers and students. The school currently has more than 9,000 full-time higher vocational students.
